Top Ten Favorite Male Anime Characters

21 October 2007

Inspired by Briar’s post and other post.

Alright, for those of you who know me, and have been reading my random, useless commentary, you’ll know that there is only one thing I live for: hot guys. So, am I really going to pass up an opportunity to indulge my inner fangirl by not raving about unrealistically gorgeous, 2D (some cases, 3D) males? Heck no! And of course, I won’t miss an opportunity to give this “lamentably male blogger world”, in Briar’s words, a few splotches of pink, either.

Notice I didn’t say top ten anime bishonen, because after selecting very carefully a list of ten characters I particularly enjoyed watching, or were just too damn hot for their own good, I realized the majority were not really considered ‘bishonen’. Technicalities aside, the only qualification needed to make it on to this list is to just be good looking.

This whole thing, of course, is painfully subjective and if anything, a source of personal amusement. I mean, I can’t spew out a meaningful, analytical post about the opposite gender in anime no matter what you do to me. Anyway, here’s to that overwhelming pink tsunami.

I’ve been trying to come up with this list for a while, right after Briar’s first post, Top Ten “Old” Bishonen. It’s gone through a million revisions and edits and cuts and additions and finally, finally, after reading Briar’s second post, Top Ten “New” Bishonen, I settled on these ten characters. It was a painful process, heartbreaking almost, but alas, here is the list.

(And, oh yes, I’ve also adopted Briar’s one guy per show rule, or it’ll be flooded by a list of CLAMP guys…)

The Honorable Mentions (with pictorial evidence)

Jin – Samurai Champloo

I have a thing for dark haired guys in glasses, not to mention Jin’s just cool. (Strangely enough, I know a guy in real life named Jin, who’s also darked haired and wears glasses.) That silent and calm yet deadly thing really worked for him. He pulled it off great. He was on the list at first, but then he was eventually pushed off the list especially since the list was ranked based on sex appeal. Jin’s great, how efficient he is with that sword is just chilling, but chilling doesn’t do much for sex appeal.

Kaji Ryouji – Evangelion

Evangelion wasn’t really my ‘thing’. I didn’t enjoy it enough to hail it as one of the most brilliant things in existence, but Kaji, Kaji is one of the few characters that really stuck with me from the series. The guy was weird, if anything, half playboy, half secret agent. Just the way he looks, that distant jaded gaze, his hair just oozes suave mysteriousness, whatever that means.

Allen Walker – D. Gray Man

Prematurely gray, demonic claw for a hand, funny eye, random tattoo down the side of his face, Allen Walker is one of the most hilariously cute characters. He’s so innocent and self-sacrificing. After a hundred something chapters, Walker really starts to grow on you. He goes through so much and at the end of it all, he didn’t do any of it for himself, he did it to help other people. He went out of his way to help Suman and look where that landed him. In fact, his whole job is really about helping the world and less about helping himself.

Reno – Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

The man looks good with a mullet, ’nuff said. Seriously, for a character that serves mainly as comic relief, he’s pretty darn good looking. Second favorite character from AC, followed shortly by Vincent Valentine. He has such a strange combination of hair and eye color, his hair is red and his eyes, I’m not too sure but look aquamarine to me.

November 11 – Darker Than Black

I have a soft spot for blondes, I really do and November 11, if not for the one per series rule I’ve restricted myself to, would’ve made the list, without a doubt. In everlasting words of Huang, he’s a GQ model. The hair, the eyes, that meticulous white suit and his contract, the guy freezes water, that contract just screams cool, figuratively and literally. I learned to really love the guy by the end of the series, his short, very possible relationship with Misaki killed me. It would’ve been so sweet had he lived. He has four pictures, I like him that much.

Yuki Sohma – Fruits Basket

Surprisingly, none of the Furuba guys made it into my top ten, but Yuki came close, very close. I loved him, absolutely loved him. I didn’t really like Kyo until the end and even then, he was never favorite. It was always Yuki, Prince Yuki (and on the side, Hatori. I have a thing for darker haired guys, what can I say?). He was the polar opposite of Kyo and I think that’s really why I liked him. Kyo was rash, loud and headstrong where Yuki was calm, mild and friendly. Not to mention, I’m terrible with cats. Mice, well, mice are not quite as bad.

The Actual List (with more pictorial evidence)

10. Kamina Ayato – RahXephon

RahXephon was like an Evangelion spin-off. It did well, though, for what it’s worth. Big aliens invading Earth, big mecha with some spiritual link to people, some random military organization, all that nice, philosophical mecha anime jazz. In the middle of it all is Ayato. Simply put, the kid’s cute, too cute.

Like almost everyone else in spiritual mecha anime, he’s plagued by a tragic past and a very confused mother-son relationship. The love of his life, due to certain circumstances, is twice his age. He ends up killing his classmate who was in love with him, and his best friend who was in love with the classmate. He rooms with the love of his life’s sister, who might have also been in love with him. And then, on the side there’s a mysterious girl that carries an umbrella. The guy’s knee deep in women. He’s attractive.

The teal hair, for one thing, is attractive. It’s like being prematurely gray, but no quite. He, surprisingly, also has a very proportioned, very nice build. Not too skinny, not too big, just the right height and just toned enough. He’s number ten on the list because I spent a obsessing over him, every word that came out of my mouth was about Ayato Kamina.

9. Duo Maxwell – Gundam Wing

Truth of matter is, I love all of the Wing boys and Milliardo Peacecraft. Gundam Wing is the the gundam show I grew up with. Some people hated it, I, personally, loved it to pieces. I mean, you’ve got five adolescent males, piloting big, sleek, gorgeously designed gundams, am I not supposed to fall in love with Wing? Heero was a bit too creepy, at times, and too silent. Wufei was beyond being stereotypically Chinese, but I love him anyways. Trowa was too mysterious (cut me some slack, I really honestly, like all of them). Quarte, Quarte is just nice, too nice. Okay, you know what? Let’s just put it this way, Duo is the only one I’d go out on a date with, if given the choice. That’s really how I settled the matter, because Wing had so many characters that I love.

Duo is my favorite of the five. Duo has amazing hair, that ponytail is worth dying for. His gundam is probably my favorite mecha designs, ever. The Deathscythe? Cmon, its the grim reaper of gundams. And like every other character, he’s more than just a pretty. His self-appointed nickname as the God of Death contradicts his humorous personality and ultimately betrays his true character. That aside, I just love him, he’s the gundam pilot that every cracks a good joke. His comedic timing is genius.

8. Simon – Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

By now, I think Simon is a man that needs no introduction, his name alone is enough. Not only was Gurren Lagann one of the best anime series I have ever seen, it also gave birth to a dearth of memorable characters, among which Simon, the protagonist, remains the most prominent. In twenty seven episodes, he went from a meek and naive child to the guy who saved the world, a hero greater than life, the universe and everything else. And, in those same twenty seven episodes, he went from being sorta cute to suddenly being very good looking. He also went through total wardrobe changes three million times.

I really don’t know why I find Simon attractive. From a purely aesthetic point of view, his character is quite plain. There’s nothing striking about his hair, his eyes, his face, his build, nothing striking at all. Maybe it’s his overwhelming personality, that ridiculously innocent voice and that unwavering steady gaze, there’s just something so pure and, strangely enough, good about him.

He started looking really good after the time skip, with wardrobe upgrade and those goggles gone, you really start seeing Simon in a different light. Then, not to ruin it for anyone (though, I’ll be damned if you didn’t see Gurren Lagann already), that last shot of him heading off into the sunset, jacket over his shoulders, really solidified Simon as a character that transcends being just another hero.

Regardless, my world is extremely shallow and often dominated by aesthetic pleasure, so he was pushed to number eight. But that does not mean I love Simon any less that I do the rest of the people on the list. In fact, I think I love him more than almost everyone else.

7. Sakyounosuke Kanna – Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto

That is one hell of a long name, sheesh. I remember commenting that Tokyo Majin had a long name, but Iroha just kills the competition. Funny thing is, I have no idea what the name actually means. But, back on topic, Kanna.

Why is this guy with a long name on this list? Quite simply, he’s blond, dresses in frills, has an eye patch and handles two revolvers, and on top of that, he has a tragic past. I was really, really torn between him and Akiduzuki in terms of who I wanted to pick from Iroha. I mean, Akidzuki was the reason I decided to watch Iroha and I only came across Kanna later. But the more I looked at the Kanna, the more I liked him. So, that’s that.

6. Yagami Raito – Death Note

Death Note, where do we start? The manga was just a little bit short of being a brilliant masterpiece, one of the most thrilling and complex stories I’ve read, packaged nice and neat in 108 chapters. Yagami Raito is your typical bored genius. And one day he comes across a killer notebook and attempts to rewrite the world as he sees fit, literally, one name at a time. Of course, if wouldn’t be fun without a rival, enter L, another genius working on the other side of the law. Crazy, freakishly complex mind game ensues. Oh, did I mention shinigamis?

Raito is probably my favorite evil, morally ambiguous lead characters. Not only does he have the brains, he also has the looks and the style. Takeshi Obata, the artist, known for his fashionable characters gives Raito one hell of a wardrobe. Even his hair, a most negligible feature because it’s just your average chocolate colored mess, is rendered in such rich and meticulous detail that you’re tempted to believe it’s some tailored, hundred dollar hair cut.

Most people find him to be a bit scary, the way his eyes look, the way he calculates and plots, without remorse, the death of countless people, even his own father. But, I’m terrible, and I have a soft spot for sinister, scheming, world dominating anti-heroes like Raito. It takes a certain bravado and guile to have people fall desperately in love with you while you’re playing God and killing people.

In short, Raito is crazy, brilliant and his good looks are just icing on the cake.

5. Li Sayaoran – Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles

Sayaoran is the first of many, he was the first CLAMP character that had me tied up in knots and withering in anguish because he wasn’t real. I used to hate Sayaroan, back when he first showed up in CCS, because he was such so arrogant and his aloof personality, quite frankly, was just annoying. But when the ice started to crack, and the relationship between him and Sakura flourished, I fell in love with him. He’s such a shy creature, he blushes a lot, eyes always glued to the ground, and he makes such an adorable couple with Sakura, it’s almost unfathomable how cute they are. They, before Hagaren happened, used to be my one true pairing. They still are, but on a smaller scale.

When Tsubasa came about, I almost died. Here’s Sayaoran, after all those years, again! I wasn’t sure what to make of his character design initially, but the newer CLAMP style really grew on me. Not to mention, he’s surrounded almost constantly by other indecently good looking CLAMP characters. What’s a girl to do?

Being ranked mostly based on sex appeal, I moved him up on the list because, well, he’s not really sexy, he’s just cute, incredibly, painfully cute.

4. Hei – Darker Than Black

Hei is a recent addition to the list, but I couldn’t resist. The moment I saw his character in the opening theme for Darker Than Black, it became a sacred duty to plant myself in front of my computer on a weekly basis and indulge in the pure aesthetic pleasure that is watching his character.

I’ve done my bit of over analyzing Hei’s character, his contract, his past, his relationships, his double personality. I’ve wasted so much time drooling over his infinitely mesmerizing gaze, the calm, navy blue of his eyes, the way he smiles, naive and helpless as Li and the cold, austerity with which he acts as Hei. Worth every second.

He’s number four on the list because I’m absolutely in love with him, every single thing about him. His mask, his knives, his trench coat, even his ordinary green jacket, the shoes, the open, button-down shirt, everything, everything. But, there are people I’m even more head over heels for.

And he only gets two pictures because, well, um, the size makes up for it. They’re pretty darn big.

3. Spike Spiegel – Cowboy Bebop

I remember the very first episode of Bebop, remember watching Spike in that silly sombrero glide across the screen like water, take down Asimov and all that beautiful action set to Yoko Kanno’s soundtrack. I don’t need to gush about Bebop, I do it too much for my own good as is, but I do need to gush about Spike. Spike, in a word, is just cool. He is the epitome of all that is cool. The way he fights, the way he moves, the way he talks, the way his hair has no particular shape at all. His personality is the perfect blend of light hearted humor and seriousness. He’s one of the few characters that pull off having a tragic past. He’s heterochromatic and is at the heart of, probably, the most brilliant series to ever hit television. Speaking of which, he’s also one of the few characters that sounded good in the English dub.

I’m trying to find words to properly express and communicate the sheer awesomeness that is Spike Spiegel, but I don’t think words would do him justice. He desires a seat on any and every list, he’s just that good, just one helluva a guy.

He’s only number three because number two is 3D. Lousy reason, but the dimensional difference matters.

2. Cloud Strife – Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Final Fantasy VII is possibly the most popular role playing game franchise, ever. It’s potent, deadly, there’s some mystic power it has over people. I haven’t even played the game and I’m already in love with the FFVII and the spin-offs and the continuations and prequels and sequels and movies.

I actually watched Advent Children out of sheer boredom. I was flicking through Movies OnDemand and saw Advent Children listed and decided instead of purchasing the English dub, to go and torrent the Japanese sub. It was love at first sight: the spikey blonde hair, those mesmerizing mako blue eyes, those awkward, yet stylish clothes, that motorcycle, even his sword, Cloud is just gorgeous.

Strangely enough, I think it was his mute, depressed, mournful personality that I ultimately fell in love with. Most people hate him for it, but I love every bit of his emo-ness, if one can call it that. The peculiar fashion in which he carries himself, a mix of determination and gentleness, his timidness and bravery, even the way he talks, it’s all part of the package. Most people just either focus on his emo-ness in AC or his gorgeous looks. Somewhere along the way, they forget that, aside from being the stoic, bland hero, Strife’s character comes in numerous layers.

I don’t really need to explain much more. He’s number two for two reasons 1) he’s probably the sexiest thing in 3D and 2) he’s probably the sexiest thing in 3D.

1. Roy Mustang – Fullmetal Alchemist

Alright, simply put, I love Roy Mustang. He is my all time favorite character from anything. Cmon! He’s the Flame Alchemist! He decimates whole city blocks in a snap, literally. He has the coolest alchemist skill from Hagaren. Sure, Ed can transmute without a circle, sure Kimblee can blows things up, sure, but Roy Mustang, Roy Mustang sets thing on fire by snapping his fingers. Snapping, his, fingers. That alone, that alone is enough for me.And he’s always in that navy blue uniform. I have a thing for guys in uniforms and Hiromu Arakawa designed one gorgeous military uniform. He looks amazing in that, with his black jacket and gloves. Occasionally he shows up in civilian clothing, most suits, and I have to say, he’s a sharp dresser. He’s also named after the P-51 Mustang. I’m not really big on fighters from the second world war, I’m more infatuated with bombers. Regardless, the fact that his name is related to historical aircraft adds another layer to his sexiness.

His character is not incredibly unique. He’s the man bent on becoming fuhrer to change the world, in a sense, almost like Raito, but with a moral conscience and a hit of Spike Spiegel with that mild mannered humorous exterior masking the burning intensity. He hasn’t much of a tragic past, but he’s often haunted by his experience in the Ishballan War. It’s fascinating because save for gundam and random mecha shows, not many other series incoporate war as one of their major plot points, or even the military.

And, of course, there’s Riza Hawkeye. They were meant to be together. If OTP ever meant anything, it meant Roy and Riza.

Visually, I prefer the manga version. Granted, sometimes Roy looks good in the anime, but you can’t beat the original. He looks somewhat like Hei, or maybe Hei looks somewhat like him, but the dark hair and dark eyes matches the uniform and the personality perfectly. He has a bit of a roundish face, physically, he’s just average, average height, average build, but he has a commanding presence, a hint of arrogance and blind ambition that makes him stand out.

Roy is almost like the blending of this entire list into one person. A bit of everything that, in my opinion, is good in a man, looks, personality, the whole nine yards.

That’s it?

That’s it. When all is said and done, there were only a handful of characters I really liked. It was difficult to comb it down to only ten people and half a dozen of honorable mentions, but, well, that’s that.

Most of these characters are on the list because they’re my favorite characters, bishonen or not, incredibly sexy or not. In total contradiction to what I believe, maybe personality, sometimes, is more important than aesthetics, why else would Roy be number one on my list?

And, I’m too lazy now, but I just remembered I forgot to add Griffith from Berserk on to this list. Now, he’s one gorgeous looking guy, I don’t think I would have ranked him very high even if I did incorporate him into the list. He turned demonic and extraordinarily creepy at the end.

Feel free to completely disagree with my list, after all, nothing is set in stone and the whole thing is purely based on opinion. To save you more reading after you’ve already read this tediously long post, I’ll stop myself right here.

Oh, and the pictures are not mine, they came from random places over the web. In some cases the credits are on the images themselves. I’m too lazy to give all the credits.

woot woot for allen, simon, hei, syaoran, november 11, and yuki. Not so sure for the others.

  2. Sagacious C says:

Griffith from Berserk? Yeah, that whole eunuch thing is a complete turn on. =)

  3. Kevin says:

what about Lelouch Lamperouge of Code Geass

  4. Xerox says:

@choco – lol, partial woot woot for the other guys? XD

@Griffith – XD!! He was on and off the list and eventually, I think I got so caught in writing about the other guys, I just sorta forgot him. But, definitely, the eunuch thing, total turn on. ;D

@Kevin – Hm, Lelouch, well, if I had to pick from Geass, I’d go for Suzaku, but he reminds too much of Sayaoran. And I already have my tormented, bored genius bent on world change, Raito!

  5. griever says:

Yay! Roy Mustang! I’m not sure if he’d be at the top of my list, but he’s definitely one of my favorite characters.

  6. BrikHaus says:

Nice list. Spike probably should have been number one, because anything from Cowboy Bebop should be at the top of any list. 😉

  7. orangee says:

Nice list. My favorite male character would have to be Ginko from Mushishi–he’s a badass. xD

  8. Vane says:

O.k! i am more agree with this list than with briar list jejejeje.. well, my number one is Hei but you have good taste, i just miss seen Naru and sousuke in this list.. but, great post

  9. Danie says:

It’s funny though that for most of ur fave chara, i loove the other one like rather than Yuki I pick Kyo, Akizuki than Kana and etc except that I have undying love (yes, since yr 1999) for Syaoran and I still watch CCS if I had the chance. I couldn’t say the same for TsubasaSyaoran coz he’s very, very different that at one point i was frustrated, but then CLAMP brought realSyaoran and that was like he’s baaaccckkk!!! (i’m a crazy girl yes)

oh, please, pretty please with icing on the cake and cherry on top please post about the top 10 bishies in CLAMPverse _ _

oh and yes, Mustang x Riza is definitely sweet. I could not see the miniskirt fuhrer-to-be with anyone else but her. She suits his temperament very well ^^

  10. Xerox says:

@griever – Yay! Fellow Mustang fan! XD I don’t think he’s at the top of anyone’s list but there mine. Not a lot of people go for late twenties, State Alchemist army colonels when you have a blonde, adolescent in the same series. lol

@Brik – Spike eventually moved up the list from number 8 (I know, don’t kill me) to number 3. The more I thought about it, the more ranking him 8 became unjustified. Before FFVII and Hagaren, he was at the top of my list. And yes, anything Bebop related needs to be at the top or near the top of a list.

@orangee – =D! Thank you! I have to finish watching Mushishi, I’m only up to episode six and I’m lacking the will to finish it. T_T! But, I will say this, Ginko is definitely badass. XD

@Vane – Yay! Thank you! Most people think my taste in men (and male anime characters) is weird. Hence, Mustang outranking Hei and Spike and Cloud. That’s what I love about writing a post like Top Ten Male Anime Characters, you find other people that gush and drool over the same guys you do.

And by Naru, you mean the guy from Love Hina and Sousuke from FMP? Surprisingly, I haven’t see either of them. Sousuke, from pics on Wiki reminds me of Ash, with those lines under his eyes and Naru, well, Naru looks like your typical everyday guy. XD Harems aren’t really my thing, but FMP looks tempting. Tempting….XD

@Danie – LOL =D! See, Kyo, I’m not too fond of Kyo. The orange hair and that…just ugh, but Akidzuki, well, I like him, I like him. It was tough picking between him and Kanna, but the frills and those dashing revolvers won me over in the end. Granted, both of them are extremely hot and Iroha was a good series, for sure.

I know what you mean with Sayaoran, the Tsubasa version had me worried for a while, but you know what? It’s all good! lol, I’m learning to love whatever CLAMP dishes out.

Top ten bishies from CLAMP works, now, that sounds like an idea. The thing is, save for CCS, Angelic Layer, Tsubasa- this is embarrassing -I’m not that well acquainted with the rest of CLAMP’s work. Like, I haven’t finished reading X/1999 or RG Veda or Rayearth or anything. I didn’t even start xxxHolic. ._.;; But, it’s definitely an idea.

And Royai, oh boy, don’t get me started with Royai. OTP OTP <333 (My inner fangirl, XD)

  11. Briar says:

@ Vane: that’s probably because Xerox’s list is sort of different from my list! 😛 Great idea doing a top ten male anime list rather than just bishies, Xerox. You effectively eliminate all the needless struggles I have been going through. 😀

@ Xerox: Love the fact that you put Roy Mustang first. I just about burst out laughing, and not from disagreement either. I do so love Roy… He’s my favourite character in FMA, and one of my favourite characters of all time. He is just too cool, so much so that I got a place in my bishie list even though he isn’t much of a bishie.

You know, you make me very curious about what all that hype is about Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. One reason I didn’t pick it up is because of Simon’s kiddish character design. Maybe it’s time I change my mind. :)

  12. griever says:

Surprisingly, I’m not a fan of the blond and/or underage. >.< I’d probably put Spike or Jin up there first before Mustang, but oh well. Maybe I should try this out and see where my biases lie. ^_^

  13. Xerox says:

@Briar – You definitely, definitely HAVE to watch Gurren Lagann. Even if just to see what the hype is all about, which is pretty much what I did. I’m the biggest fan of Gainax (see Evangelion) but I decided to give GL a shot and I don’t regret the decision at all. At first, the kiddish decision did bother me, but then, everything else (the action, the story, the crazy randomness) overshadowed my concerns.

=D! Mustang! Mustang! XD That’s the bit of rabid fangirl in me that jumps and dances every time he comes up in conversation. =D!! He’s cool, he’s so cool. I loved that you put him on your bishie list, he’s cool enough to break the bishie barrier, XD!!

I actually wanted to do bishies, but I realized that I did’t *like* a lot of bishies and I really didn’t want to get into some semantic argument over what a bishie actually is, so I just stuck with guys in general. XD

@griever – XD, Ed…hm….He’s almost not underaged. See, I don’t particularly like ranking things. I like these characters pretty much in equal proportions and for different reasons and if not ‘sex appeal’ I probably couldn’t even have ranked them! So, Spike and Jin and Mustang have, honestly, an equal place in my heart. lol

You really should make your list, I’d be interested in reading it. After a while, you sort of figure out the type you go for. I discovered I have a thing from calm, mild (and occasionally ’emo’) guys, hence Strife, Simon and Yuki. lol Or, the really cool and collected type, Jin and Mustang and Spike. XD

  14. Vane says:

@Xerox: Jeje, no, its Naru from Ghost Hunt!.. i have a kind of patron in men taste, i love black hair, blue eyes, bad-ass guys ejejeje
@Briar:You are right! its better to name it favorite male characters,(even when i first think in something like hot guys, but this is better) it was a what i comment in you post because bishounen its just about beautiful almost femenine guys, and that is why in your list you didnt put all the guys that you like.. well, thats what i understand..

  15. Seleria says:

It is great that you have FF7 characters there. I just love that game and of course Reno, Vincent, Sephiroth, Cloud, Zack, and the lot are in my bishie list XD You should play the game 😀

    Girl gamers FTW!

Roy is HOT! I mean really. Nice list!

How about Lulu? and the guys from Ouran? Any guy from sports anime like PoT, Slam Dunk!, and Ookiku Furikabutte? :)

  16. usagijen says:

I’m glad Duo made it to your list. He’s the guy I love most from the Gundam Wing guys! I totally agree with you regarding SyaoRan. The moment I saw the dere side of this tsundere, I was in love :3

I prefer Kyo over Yuki though… Perhaps seeing his tsundere-ness and his development in the manga made me like him more. Cloud is hawt and smexy. No other explanation needed.

About Griffin… I hate him for giving me the shock of my life, when I saw what he did to Casca in the manga! ;___; It still gives me nightmares until now…

Sadly, I have yet to watch tons of more animes, which is why I can’t say much about the other guys. It’s really really hard to put up a top bishie / male anime characters list, which is why I salute you guys for doing this.

/me gives Xerox a bunch of cookies for all this

I wonder if I can ever put up my own list. I’m struggling already! x__x

  17. Xerox says:

@Vane – Oooh! Ghost Hunt! I have to see that. And, you know, I sorta go for the same type of men, a few blondes slip in there every once in a while. I just have a really thing for light colored eyes.

@Seleria – I love FF7! The guys are so wonderfully good looking. Sephiroth, granted, freaked me out for a really long time. I have to definitely play the game, I feel like I’m missing out, and I probably am. XD

Lulu, well, Code Geass wasn’t may favorite show of all time, in fact I thought the thing was presented a bit horribly. But from the aesthetic point of view, when you’ve got guys like Cloud and Spike in the running, Lulu pales in comparison. And, I haven’t seen Ouran, I know, don’t kill me. XD! I didn’t like the character designs from PoT or Slam Dunk! but Oofuri! =D!! I just started reading the manga recently, so I’m not well acquainted with the characters, but I’m already in love with Abe and Ren. <3!!

@usagijen (;D) - Yay!! Duo needs more love, he's often overshadowed by Heero or just lost in the collective of "Gundam Wing guys". And Syaoran, God, his dere side killed me, he was so shy and so cute and oooh, he was just adorable.

A lot of people prefer Kyo over Yuki. In a sense, Kyo is like Syaoran and Yuki, say, is like Yuki (from CSS) XD! I do, however, prefer the manga version of Kyo. The anime ending just felt weird, especially with how the manga ended. O_o.

Griffith, hahaha, *nervous giggly chuckle* I didn't read the manga, 300 something chapters, no way I'll make it through all that. But, I did watch the anime and thought it was brilliant and amazing. What he did to Caska scarred my mind, I will never, ever forget Berserk, ever. But, cmon, in the first half, wasn't he just ridiculously hot? XD

Oooh, if you haven't done so already, start with Bebop first! XD But, it's probably because we have different tastes and interests, that's why you haven't watched a lot of what's on the list. I haven't seen most of what's on Briar's list, either. Though, I'm tempted to watch Romeo X Juliet, even if just for Tybalt.

/receives cookie with much gratitude. =D!!

You really ought to put together a list. I'm always interested in other people's top ten bishies, or male characters, or random guys that are hot. It'll be even better if this turns into some female anime blogger movement. And it all started with Briar....XD!!

@ usagijen: Why does Xerox get a bunch of cookies, while I only get one? *jealous*

@ Xerox: You’ve got to watch Ghost Hunt! It has everything you need in an anime, and IMO Mai doesn’t irritate me as much as Ayano does sometimes. LOLz. Can’t say the same for other people, though.

*sigh* seems that I didn’t tempt you enough for Ghost Hunt in my list. Will have to re-evaluate myself.

I don’t think Griffin is hot, you know. I think it’s the whole old school design thing. I’m soooo biased. :)

  19. Xerox says:

    @Briar – Awww, /shares cookies with Briar! =D!!

I really should, I need to see so many different things. Ghost Hunt, the more I look at it, the better it looks. I think, that if I over think everything, it’ll look appealing. XD!!

Oooh, I understand exactly what you mean about the designs, but I think, that’s why I liked Berserk. The old school animation was really nice, maybe it’s just me. XD

  20. usagijen says:

@Briar: aww… well that was the first cookie :3 /me gives Briar more XD

@Xerox: Griffin creepiness aside, he did look hawt with that long flowing hair of his. I don’t think I’m biased against old school designs… I love Kurama, Shiryuu, Duo, etc!

  21. Xerox says:

@usagijen – Yay! Someone who thinks Griffith is hot too! His hair is wonderful, just wonderful. It’s such a strange gray blue color that I just love. And his eyes, <3. XD I'm not *that* biased against old school designs, but there's a limit. Like, Lupin III, he's just not...hot. lol

  22. Michael says:

Oh god, Simon is hot. 😀

Hey, Xerox, I thought you might be interested but I tried to create a list of my own and finally got it done. ^_^
