the site & me

Greetings fellow earthlings! Here goes: I’m in high school, Chinese and live in New York City. Anime is life, video games is love, school is a level beyond hell and history, the military, weapons, and stuffed toys are just there for fun. I watch anime for the hot guys, I lie sometimes and say it’s for the plot and the emotion depth of the characters. I have a thing for chocolate and salt, not together. Long story short, I’m mostly harmless. And I can’t read Japanese.

Technically nirai kanai – teh blog (and it’s not a typo) started on June 15th, 2007 at 3.23 pm. I’m not a freak, that was the time and date of my first post. Not to mention it wasn’t even that long ago. Animeblogger.net became my host recently, and only today (today being July 1st, 2007) did I switch over to the new site. I’m not going to import any of my old posts since I’m too lazy and they weren’t that great, but if you want you can still read them. Don’t know why you’d want to. The official birth of my blog will be the day the site appears on Animeblogger.net ‘s main site. This has yet to happen, and when it does, the occasion will be documented here.

The purpose of this blog, a quite obvious one at that, is to document my enduring and unhealthy obsession, anime. I started watching anime around three or four, although I didn’t understand anything that happened. My first manga was Dragonball, the good ol’ original Dragonball, in Chinese. My first anime, with a plot I didn’t get and now can’t remember, was Saint Seiya. Sailor Moon was the first anime I understood and obsessed over in Chinese (I have DVDs in Chinese from ’97-’98, it’s weird), CardCaptor Sakura was the anime I obsessed over (in English.) Syaoran Li was the first anime guy I had a crush on. CLAMP was my first mangka group that I fell in love with. Angelic Layer was the first manga I bought, FullMetal Alchemist was the first series I purchased completely on DVD, movie included. And, it just kind grew from there.

I really don’t know why I found anime so attractive, hot anime and manga males aside. Perhaps I suffered mental trauma from gluing my eyes to my very small antique TV set when I was five to watch Sailor Moon. Maybe because I just have addiction problems. Maybe it is really the hot guys that kept me attached, who knows. Anyways, I’m addicted and there is no cure.

Totally unrelated, my hometown, Harbin, holds the record for the largest ice sculpture.
