Upgrading to 2.3….And other stuff, heh
27 September 2007
So, Halo 3 came out, I waited on line for a good while before I noticed the “we check ID” sign and had to go home empty handed. But! My friend and I were smart enough to pre-order elsewhere and I secured my copy the day it came out. And yes, I bought the Legendary edition, helmet and all. Too lazy to take pictures, but it’s pretty unbelievable that a scale model of a Spartan helmet is sitting on my kitchen table. When I find room, I’m going to build a shrine around it. Though, I have to admit, missing out on Midnight Madness was a tad bit disappointing. Anyways, more on my gaming obsession later. Of course, now that I have it, I’m going to beat Halo 3, play multiplayer and never shut up about it.
I also have Toward the Terra sitting on my desktop, a couple episodes of D. Gray-Man and the newest Baccano! episode. I need to seriously find time between Halo, school and anime. And in the middle of all of this, I’m upgrading.
See, upgrading scares me because they make such a big deal out of saving and backuping EVERYTHING or else it’s going to be gone FOREVER! And, I’m pretty inept with computers, so if after the upgrade, things go missing, well, you know what happened. If I do loose everything, forever, I’m going to go weep in the corner and take out my anguish on aliens.
All right then, to upgrading!
Take pictures of the Halo stuff. After all, if there are no pictures, then it never happened. 😉
I felt so clever when I upgraded to 2.3…only to realise that the database structure has changed too. All of a sudden my categories plugin doesn’t work and the SQL query I’d typed out longhand for my A-Z page turned into a stream of error messages! I’m sure it’s more secure and all but when so many little details don’t work as well as they did I need convincing that it’s ‘better’ than before…
@Brik – I think my camera broke, or at least it’s constantly telling it’s low on batteries, despite the fact that I charged it. Well, I have a bad cellphone picture of someone dressed up as Master Chief from the Best Buy thing. XD
@Martin – I don’t get MySQL and my understanding how of wordpress works is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Sorry to hear you’re having trouble with it. I’m not too convinced myself that 2.3 was worth all the fuss. Nothing’s really changed and from what you’ve said, it basically just screwed things up.
Also, I refuse to use the tags. I hate tags! >:(
